Drooling in dog with previous seizures?
My dog has had two seizures (one two months ago and the other just last week) and tonight she is drooling. I know during a seizure a dog drools and it’s super sticky so when i saw drool on her mouth I got worried. It’s not sticky however, just like regular water. Could this drooling be from her licking herself or should i be worried it’s a seizure. If it’s a seizure I definitely dont want to sleep but I do have to be up early so I dont now what to think. Shes been having a dizzy spell since Saturday and we have scheduled to see the vet about it. She’s gotten much more better though. I mean does any of this (the watery saliva) sound like a pre-seizure episode?
This drooling may or may not be a sign of a seizure attack. For a starter, it’s not always that when a seizure episode happens, a dog drools. There are certain episodes where the dog simply twitches or it could go to a worse case where the dog can lose consciousness after extending the limbs rigidly.
However, if your dog shows signs of drooling before her seizure attacks, it may be important for you stay with her and make sure to get a quick appointment to your vet so she may be given meds like phenobarbital.
