dog illness shaking
my dog trembles sometimes?

she shivers / trembles sometimes not sure what is wrong with her, she is 2 years old, doesn’t drink a lot of water , keep her hydrated with broth and canned food, had a tonsil removed last year because it was swollen, she has had her share of illnesses, reocurring urinary infections, I mentioned earlier that she swallows in a pushing forward with her tongue against her teeth constantly, vet can’t find anything associated with that, anybody know what the shaking is all about? she is a pitbull.

No idea for sure but I have two different examples.

A friend’s cat would every now and then get “the shivers” and was eventually taken to a vet and diagnosed with diabetes…yep animals can get diabetes.

My own cat, very old cat about 14 or 15 years old, started to have the shivers. Turned out they were mild strokes. Yep animals can have strokes.

Basically what I think I am saying, though I hate to see you spend money in case it’s nothing, but I would take him to a vet to find out for sure.

Sociology of Health and Illness

Sociology of Health and Illness

$97.19

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Sociology of Health and Illness examines the interaction between society and health. The objective of this topic is to see how social life has an impact on morbidity and mortality rate, and vice versa. This aspect of sociology differs from medical sociology in that this branch of sociology discusses health and illness in relation to social institutions such as family, employment, and school. The sociology of medicine limits its concern to the patientpractitioner relationship and the role of health professionals in society. The sociology of health and illness covers sociological pathology (causes of disease and illness), reasons for seeking particular types of medical aid, and patient compliance or noncompliance with medical regimes. Health and Illness in a Changing Society

Health and illness are intensely personal matters. It seems self evident that health is a basic necessity of the good life, though it is often taken for granted. Illness, on the other hand challenges our sense of security and may introduce acute anxiety into our lives. Health and Illness in a Changing Society provides a lively and critical account of the impact of social change on the experience of health and illness. It also examines the different sociological perspectives that have been used to analyse health matters. While some of the ideas developed in the last twenty years remain relevant to social research in health today, many are in need of urgent revision. Barley Dog (11 oz)

Barley Dog (11 oz)

$28.99

BARLEY GRASS JUICE POWDER AND OTHER NUTRIENTS WITH A HICKORY SMOKED BACON FLAVOR THAT DOGS LOVE. Dogs and cats instinctively eat fresh green grass which is rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. The problem with eating whole grass is that each blade is covered with microscopic barbs that can cause stomach and throat irritation. Since we use only fresh juice – without the barbs – our barley grass powder is good for your pet…and your carpet. With the pesticides and other chemicals applied to lawns and fields these days, it may be harmful for dogs to eat fresh grass. That is why Barley Dog® is an ideal supplement for pets. Our barley grass powder is loaded with active enzymes that are often missing in today’s processed dog foods. Sprinkling Barley Dog® on your dog’s food will not only enhance the taste, but will also enable more nutrients to be absorbed. Samantha Bjone, Ph.D. and colleagues from the University of New England in Armidale, Australia found that dogs normally eat grass when hungry and that grass eating is a normal part of their behavior and not a result of illness or upset stomach. This is the first scientific study done in a controlled environment to investigate grass eating behavior in domestic dogs. A study published in 2008 by researchers from California who surveyed pet owners as to their dog’s eating behaviors added further support for the notion that grass eating is a normal behavior of domestic dogs. Available in powder ( 3oz and 11oz bottle) BENEFITS Provides active enzymes, vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, amino acids, chlorophyll, bioflavonoids and essential trace minerals. Regular use promotes healthy skin and coat, reduces bad breath, improves digestion and restores energy levels – especially among senior dogs.

The Reality of Mental Illness

The Reality of Mental Illness

$49.92

This book is psychiatrys reply to the diverse group of antipsychiatrists, including Laing, Foucault, Goffman, Szasz and Bassaglia, that has made fashionable the view that mental illness is merely socially deviant behaviour and that psychiatrists are agents of the capitalist society seeking to repress such behaviour. It establishes, by the use of evidence from historical and transcultural studies, that mental illness has been recognized in all cultures since the beginning of history and goes on to explore the philosophical and medical basis for psychiatrys diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. Finally, it tackles two issues where psychiatry has been seen as at odds with the values prevailing in society: involuntary hospitalization and the insanity defence. The Reality of Mental Illness does not pretend to offer simple answers to the complex problems it discusses, but will leave the reader with a much greater understanding of psychiatrys aims, practices and problems. A Shaking Table Investigation on the Seismic Resistance

A Shaking Table Investigation on the Seismic Resistance

$133.82

The seismic behaviour of typical unreinforced masonry (URM) brick houses that were common in early last century in NZ, and still common in many developing countries, is experimentally investigated in this research. A one halfscale model house was constructed and tested under earthquake ground motions on a shaking table. The oneroom house per floor was constructed with clay brick masonry laid with cementlimesand mortar. The model house had a conventional timber floor and timber frame roof clad with clay tiles. The layout of openings, door and windows were sized and located to be representative of a range of a typical construction practice. The model structure, which had a length to width (plan) aspect ratio of 1.5:1 was initially tested in the longitudinal with several earthquakes with PGA up to 0.5g. Damage was limited to toppling of the end gables (above the eaves line) and minor to moderate cracking around window and door piers. The structure was then rotated 900 and tested in the transverse (short) direction with ground motions with PGA in excess of 0.5g. Global rocking occurred and partial outofplane failure of walls was observed in the second storey. James Parkinson (17551824) was an English physician, geologist, paleontologist, and political activist. In 1784 he became a surgeon and succeeded his father in his practice at 1, Hoxton Square, London. In addition to his flourishing medical practice, Parkinson had an avid interest in geology and paleontology, as well as the politics of the day. He published nearly twenty political pamphlets in the postFrench Revolution period, sometimes under the pseudonym Old Hubert, calling for radical social reforms. Parkinson was also interested in improving the general health and wellbeing of the population. He wrote several medical doctrines that exposed a similar zeal for the health and welfare of the people that was expressed by his political activism. He is most famous for his 1817 work, An Essay on the Shaking Palsy, in which he was the first to describe paralysis agitans, a condition that would later be named Parkinsons disease after him. Mass Psychogenic Illness (MPI), also called Mass Sociogenic Illness, is the rapid spread of illness signs and symptoms affecting members of a cohesive group, originating from a nervous system disturbance involving excitation, loss or alteration of function, whereby physical complaints that are exhibited unconsciously have no corresponding organic aetiology. Radiation Narratives and Illness

Radiation Narratives and Illness

$152.95

Over the years, studies in the field of Medical Anthropology have showed that the chronic illness, as radiation illness, enters into an individuals life in such a way that it becomes inseparable from the persons life history. Drawing upon extensive field research, the book explores the issue of radiaiton illness narratives related to the 1987 Goi nia disaster. The work is an ethnographic account of the social suffering as produced from the interplay of disaster, health, memory, and the narrativization process. The main premise of the book is that the disaster continues to affect those individuals whose suffering is denied by the institutional power. This work, as a case study, could quite easily be used in several different courses within cultural anthropology, general social sciences, and latin American studies department. The analysis as well should help shed some lights in the consequences of the use of nuclear technology in medicine without appropriated surveillance. Schizotypy: Implications for Illness and Health

$209.63

The central theme of this book presents a challenging and controversial new view of psychosisthat the features of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia actually lie on a continuum with, and form part of, normal behavior and experience. The dispositional or schizotypal traits associated with psychotic disorders, while increasing ones chances for mental illness, also lead to positive outcomes such as enhanced creativity or spiritual experience. The Role of Chronic Illness in Mental Wellbeing

Because it is a chronic process that includes the proliferation of multiple stressors, chronic illness can lead to significant psychological distress. Within the framework of a stress proliferation model, chronic illness is a significant predictor of such distress. The 1996 National Survey of Midlife Development in the United States (MIDUS) was utilized for this secondary analysis. There were 4242 adult respondents surveyed by phone on physical health, midlife development, and social support. Chronic illness was reported by 2095 (71) respondents. Chronic illness, mediated by perceived control, was a significant predictor of depression. Social support and healthcare discrimination were also significant in the likelihood of depression. The current analysis supports the premise that chronic illness is a stressor that not only leads to poor mental health outcomes but is associated with the emergence of other stressors, such as distress from discrimination. The book highlights the significant impact personal agency and quality support have on dealing with stress from chronic illness.
