How do Portugese Water Dogs rank in dog intelligence?

Hey

I need to know how Portugese Water Dogs rank for Dog Intelligence…If someone could send me a link to a list it would be greatly appreicated!

The ranking of dog intelligence is basically worthless, as it is more an indication of response to training methods used by the person measuring response, and does not take into consideration that the same methods are not right for all dogs..
The breed that i raise are ranked at the bottom of the list..but are extremely intelligent! They just don’t think as the typical dog does They have a different motivation…

the Portuguese Water dog isn’t on the common list, so it would be hard to find a list in which it is compared to other breeds..

However, they are smart, and easily trained..

dogs are much as people..the different breeds have different genius, just as we have poets and artists that can’t do higher math, but utilize another part of the brain..

The Portuguese Water Dog is a water-loving, lively but sensible, and loyal dog. Affectionate and fun to be around. It is excellent with children and usually gets along with other dogs and pets without any problems. They need to get to know cats so that the company of them will also cause no problems. It has a stable, pleasant temperament. Brave, highly intelligent and trainable; keen to work and quick to learn and understand instructions. Training these dogs is not difficult if you understand the dog’s character. They are very sensitive to the tone of your voice. Alternate training and play, and bear in mind that this extremely intelligent dog will take liberties if you think you can just fit a bit of training in when it suits you. Make sure you are consistent. This breed may out-think its owner! Generally willing to please, this is an obedient dog. Spirited, with great stamina, yet calm.< http://petrix.com/dogint/intelligence.html

Cat Intelligence

Cat Intelligence

$58.94

Cat intelligence is the considered capacity of learning, thinking, problem solving, reasoning, and adaptability possessed by the domestic catThe brain size of the average cat is 5 centimeters in length and 30 grams. Since the average cat is 60 cm long and 3.3 kg, the brain makes up 1/12 of its length and 1/110 of its mass. Thus, the average cats brain accounts for 0.9 percent of its total body mass, compared to 2 percent of total body mass in the average human. The surface area of a cats cerebral cortex is approximately 83 cm. The modern human cerebral cortex is about 2500 cm. Cat brains have been shown to be more similar to human brains than dog brains, and the part of the brain for emotions is the same in both cats and humans. According to researchers at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, the physical structure of human brains and that of cats are very similar; they have the same lobes in the cerebral cortex as humans do. Human brains also function the same way, conveying data via many identical neurotransmitters Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 64 Publication Date: 2010/07/26 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.15 inches

Searching and Ranking in EntityRelationship Graphs

Searching and Ranking in EntityRelationship Graphs

$154.53

The Web bears the potential to become the worlds most comprehensive knowledge base. Organizing information from the Web into entityrelationship graph structures could be a first step towards unleashing this potential. In a second step, the inherent semantics of such structures would have to be exploited by expressive search techniques that go beyond todays keyword search paradigm. This work proposes a wide variety of novel search and ranking strategies over data that is organized in entityrelationship graphs. All presented techniques have been implemented as components of the NAGA search engine and published in renowned international conferences. NAGA itself is a fully implemented prototype system and is part of the YAGONAGA project. Clustering and Ranking for Web Information Retrieval

Clustering and Ranking for Web Information Retrieval

$114.71

This book investigates several research problems which arise in modern Web Information Retrieval. First of all we consider the fact that there are many situations where a flat list of ten search results are not enough, and that the users might desire to have a larger number of results grouped onthefly in folders of similar topics. In this book, we describe Snaket, a hierarchical clustering metasearch engine which personalizes searches according to the clusters selected onthefly by users. Second, we consider those situations where users might desire to access fresh information such as news articles. We present a new ranking algorithm suitable for ranking those fresh type of information. Third, we will discuss numerical methodologies for accelerating the ranking methodologies used in Web Search. An important achievement for this book is that we show how to address the above predominant issues of Web Information Retrieval by using clustering and ranking methodologies. We demonstrate that both clustering and ranking have a mutual reinforcement property that has not yet been studied intensively. Ranking Sports Teams: A Deterministic Algorithm.

Ranking Sports Teams: A Deterministic Algorithm.

$115.71

Ranking sports teams within a league is an interesting problem when the teams play unbalanced schedules. Such is the case in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, where not only is ranking difficult because some teams play tougher schedules than others, but important because rankings are used to choose championship game participants. Cassady, Maillart, and Salman (2005) formulated the ranking problem as a quadratic assignment problem. Because of the size of the problem, they developed a search heuristic based upon a genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm, an evolvement of rankings over a number of generations of random breeding, performs well, but is not repeatable. We developed a deterministic algorithm to be used in place of the search heuristic implemented by Cassady, Maillart, and Salman. The search heuristic uses a multilayered enumeration of the quadratic assigment problem on pods of teams within the league as a starting solution to a local search heuristic. The deterministic algorithm performs well in comparison to the genetic algorithm in only a fraction of the time. Author: Sullivan, Kelly M. Computational Intelligence

Computational Intelligence

$103.56

Computational intelligence (CI) is an offshoot of artificial intelligence. As an alternative to GOFAI it rather relies on heuristic algorithms such as in fuzzy systems, neural networks and evolutionary computation. In addition, computational intelligence also embraces techniques that use Swarm intelligence, Fractals and Chaos Theory, Artificial immune systems, Wavelets, etc. Computational intelligence combines elements of learning, adaptation, evolution and Fuzzy logic (rough sets) to create programs that are, in some sense, intelligent. Computational intelligence research does not reject statistical methods, but often gives a complementary view (as is the case with fuzzy systems). Artificial neural networks is a branch of computational intelligence that is closely related to machine learning. Computational intelligence is further closely associated with soft computing, connectionist systems and cybernetics. Collective Intelligence

Collective Intelligence

$106.74

Collective intelligence is a shared or group intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition of many individuals. Collective intelligence appears in a wide variety of forms of consensus decision making in bacteria, animals, humans, and computer networks. The study of collective intelligence may properly be considered a subfield of sociology, of business, of computer science, of mass communications and of mass behavior a field that studies collective behavior from the level of quarks to the level of bacterial, plant, animal, and human societies. The concept also frequently appears in science fiction as telepathically linked species and cyborgs. The above definition has emerged from the writings of Douglas Hofstadter (1979), Peter Russell (1983), Tom Atlee (1993), Pierre Lvy (1994), Howard Bloom (1995), Francis Heylighen (1995), Douglas Engelbart, Cliff Joslyn, Ron Dembo, Gottfried MayerKress (2003) and other theorists. Rationality and Intelligence

Rationality and Intelligence

$97.19

What is intelligence? Can it be increased by teaching? If so, how, and what difference would an increase make? Before we can answer these questions, we need to clarify them. Jonathan Baron argues that when we do so we find that intelligence has much to do with rational thinking, and that the skills involved in rational thinking are in fact teachable, at least to some extent. Rationality and Intelligence develops and justifies a prescriptive theory of rational thinking in terms of utility theory and the theory of rational life plans. The prescriptive theory, buttressed by other assumptions, suggests that people generally think too little and in a way that is insufficiently critical of the initial possibilities that occur to them. However these biases can be and sometimes are corrected by education. Intelligence Quotient

Intelligence Quotient

$103.56

An intelligence quotient, or IQ, is a score derived from one of several different standardized tests designed to assess intelligence. The term IQ, from the German IntelligenzQuotient, was coined by the German psychologist William Stern in 1912 as a proposed method of scoring early modern childrens intelligence tests such as those developed by Alfred Binet and Thodore Simon in the early 20th Century. Although the term IQ is still in common use, the scoring of modern IQ tests such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is now based on a projection of the subjects measured rank on the Gaussian bell curve with a center value (average IQ) of 100, and a standard deviation of 15, although different tests may have different standard deviations. IQ scores have been shown to be associated with such factors as morbidity and mortality, parental social status, and to a substantial degree, parental IQ. While its inheritance has been investigated for nearly a century, controversy remains as to how much is inheritable, and the mechanisms of inheritance are still a matter of some debate. Personality and Intelligence

Personality and Intelligence

$74.87

Motivated by their belief that the most interesting work on intelligence is now being done at the interface of intelligence and personality, Robert Sternberg and Patricia Ruzgis have collected a body of essays exploring the interconnections and interdependencies between these two constructs. The essays selected form a history of the fields of intelligence and personality, from the period of grand theories, in which researchers sought to formulate overarching theories of the constructs as a whole, to the psychometric approach of factor analysis, to the development of situational and domainspecific theories, and finally to current research on personsituation interactions. Including work from such prominent researchers as Eysenck, Baltes, Dwek, Cantor, Ford, Smirnov, and Salovey, the book comprises an overview of the current state of the literature on the integration of the emotional and cognitive sides of a persons life. This will be a useful supplement in advanced undergraduate or graduate courses in personality and/or intellectual processes. Measuring Global Values: The Ranking of 162 Countries

$145.82

This volume profiles 162 countries using as a basis for comparison more than a hundred indicators measuring how each country reflects 5 global values: peace, economic wellbeing, ecological balance, social justice, and political participation. The use of databased management software systems for the collection of information results in a broadbased analysis which yields thoroughly documented conclusions and affirms the five values as appropriate evaluative tools. Introductory material outlines the methods used in the study, defines the measurement criteria, and identifies the studys objectives. Each of the five subject areas is then addressed separately, its findings supported by numerous tables and excerpts, and its data supplemented by a bibliography at the end of each chapter. Students of political science as well as global policy scholars will consider this unique application of current technology to the examination of global values a significant contribution to literature on the subject. Sensemaking: A Structure for an Intelligence Revolution

$41.21

Sensemaking is the inaugural book in our new series, titled The A. Denis Clift Series on the Intelligence Profession. The Clift Series will present original research on intelligence analysis and the teaching of intelligence. Sensemaking, whereby intelligence professionals would work with executive decisionmakers to explain data that are sparse, noisy, and uncertain, requires an interpreter and experienced champion to bring about a practicable understanding and acceptance of the concept among intelligence practitioners. David Moore has accomplished that feat. Further, he, along with collaborators in chapters 5 and 7, demonstrate how sensemaking can be accomplished as a collaborative enterprise.
