dog skin problem after pregnancy?

my dog developed skin problem during and after her pregnancy. she get itchy all the time and her hair been falling near her butttt to her stomach. her skin looks normal except lately her skin has tiny red swells. when she scratched the tiny swells, as big as an acne, it bleeds. vet is far from my place and i wanna try if i can fix it by buying natural or artificial remedy that i can buy near my place… does anyone know what i can do to my dog? i’m worried of the puppies which might get the skin problem too if i wont be able to cure her skin problem.

Since this forum is for answering questions, not slinging mud, I’ll answer with what you requested. There’s a site that lists things you can use that are “natural”, but the site owner (and I) urge you to get her to a vet for a diagnosis first. I’m thinking it’s probably a thyroid problem (underactive or low). There’s something you can get for that without a vet (and feel free to email if you need to later), but I think you need to try some other things first.

It may be a nutrition problem that showed up when the pregnancy began making huge demands on her body. Without knowing whether she’s been wormed with a full spectrum wormer like Drontal, what breed she is, what she’s being fed, how many puppies she had, and a myriad of other questions, all anyone can do is guess. I don’t think it’s something contagious,or she would have shown evidence of having it before she got pregnant, however.

I’m going to start with the most obvious, and that is, she probably isn’t getting enough of the nutrients she needs from what she’s being fed. If you’re feeding her a cheap grocery store dogfood, that’s probably a large part of the problem. The food value in these types of dogfoods is about that of a cardboard box. You’ll probably see a dramatic improvement if you change what you’re feeding her to a higher quality brand of food. Check the site below for the rank of most dogfoods sold in the USA. I’m now feeding my dogs Wellness, and it’s hard to believe how much difference a high quality dogfood will make until you try one.

I could tell you a story of a rescued/starving mother dog I have, but that isn’t necessary. If you want to know it, email and I’ll send you a link back to one of the many posts I wrote that included it.

If you are wanting something to help soothe this right away, check the other site below the first one. I can also guarantee those 2 products, and so can a lot of other people.

There is a website that has a load of effective “natural” remedies, and I’m including the link but I really think her problem is related to a poor diet and possibly being wormy. You can get Drontal or a generic equal to it from the 3rd website, and you don’t have to have a vet prescription to get it.

One last bit of advice, please do your dog a favor and have her spayed after she weans her puppies. It will spare her from more dangerous illnesses than just skin problems.
