Why does my dog use his nose to quicly nudge random items/sometimes his food into a pile then pounce on it?

Harley is a 10 month old Golden Retriever. I noticed that sometimes when I give him his food he will nudge the blanket/towel it sits on ( with his nose) to cover it up or maybe just to put it into a pile. He has also been nudging random items laying on the floor into piles with his nose then pounces on them. What is he doing?! He does it very often. Just curious!

He’s a smart little Golden who is having fun with his food and other items.

Golden’s think that life is a party and they are the guest of honor – in this case, Harley wants to be the entertainment, too.

My nine month old Golden, Riley, likes to take things and fling them in the air and then retrieve them. Just making his own fun.
