Why is it that sometimes when you touch people do you get a little electric shock(static)?

And do you think people can be more static than others. Me and my daughter get shocks off each other, we noticed a while ago, so make notes of where we are and what we’re wearing. Yesterday i knew she’d borrowed my hairbrush, because when i brush my hair there was alot of static on it. My daughter gets shocks off door handles and railings etc and with other people even our dog. Wierd thing is my Gran is the same. Maybe its a genetic thing

Called static electricity. Worse in cold weather, and when you walk across carpet. Has to do with positive and negative charges. Electricity likes to be neutral. If you”ve got more positive charges than the person or thing you touch, they will jump and you’ll feel a shock from the energy released as neutrality is established.
