Will a cat go through a regular Dog Patio-Panel Door?

I have a miniature dachshund, and I want to get a doggy door for it that’s not gonna be over $200.00. Does this mean that our cat will go through it and run away? can it? or will it? That can be a huge problem. I just wanted know form people who have had this experience and have a dog and cat w/ a doggy door. Thank you so much!

My experience with this has been that cats will go through it quicker than dogs will. They’re used to sneaking around and through places that are close or have box flaps, etc. to hunt. Whether it will run away is another question. I decided in our case to take the chance and the cats do not leave our property very often.

When they do, it’s to hunt rodents under the neighbor lady’s house and she’s grateful because she no longer has rat/mouse problems. The other neighbor has a pit bull that has gotten into our yard and killed two mini goats, but the cats knew enough to get out of the yard or into the house and out of his way before he discovered them. They never go into his yard or across the street even though they could if they wanted to.

BTW, we raise pigeons in our backyard and they are much more attractive to hawks than our Chis and MiniDach.
