Why are many people freaking out when some people eat dog meat?

but enjoy every much meats from other animals, don’t they know what kind of agony all those peaceful and helpless animals went through?

Have they ever think about the agony the animals went through when they see the steaks in their plates?
Then why freak out only if people eat dogs?
I mean why all those hypocrisy?
Are plants sentient beings then?

Have you ever considered that vegetation is alive also? If we are no better than animals (which I believe) than why are we better than plants? I eat meat because I don’t discriminate. My body craves and can utilize nutrients from meat and vegetation so I eat both as my body craves them.
Now the actual torture of animals is a different story. I may sure to buy all my meat from local farms that I know (because I’ve seen) have ample roaming space, kind caretakers, adequate and healthy food, and a quick, painless death.
As for the dog meat, I do not freak out about that. Everyone has different norms in their culture. I don’t eat dog because it’s not available here and I see them as members of my family. It would be like eating a human being to me and we are biologically programed not to crave human flesh because we need to preserve the species and procreate. Because I am so attached to my dogs, my psyche has made is so I think about them the same way. Other cultures don’t eat cows or pigs or fish which I happen to find delicious. They probably think it’s disgusting but that’s their prerogative and doesn’t bother me at all. I won’t force them to eat a cow so long as they don’t force me to eat a dog.

Add: Plants are not sentient but their lives are just as valuable as our own. We need to kill to survive as does almost every other animal.
